India wins UN award for digital public infrastructure

India has received the 2025 UN Global Digital Infrastructure Award for its scalable and inclusive platforms like UPI, Aadhaar, and DigiLocker. The award acknowledges India’s ability to deliver digital governance to over a billion citizens. The UN panel appreciated the interoperability, privacy safeguards, and use of AI for service delivery. India was selected from over 65 nominated countries. PM Modi, in a virtual address, credited the award to India’s IT engineers, policymakers, and citizens who embraced the “Digital India” vision.
